HMBIM Extends its Focus on Greening Events through Roaming Packet Pickups
Organization takes packet pickup process to the athletes at 3 additional Bay Area locations
Half Moon Bay, CA - Leaders of the Half Moon Bay International Marathon (HMBIM) announced an innovation to the traditional race procedure of packet pickup which improves the Green aspects of their event. For the 2012 event, the HMBIM team will provide roaming packet pickup at 4 different locations in the San Francisco Bay Area where many of the registered athletes reside. The organization will provide 2 pickup days in a Bay Area Peninsula location, 2 pickup days in downtown San Francisco, and 1 in the East Bay, concluding with 2 pickup days in Half Moon Bay.

Holds record for the most number of marathons in a single year by a woman
Half Moon Bay, California - The Half Moon Bay International Marathon (HMBIM) today announced that Yolanda Holder, the reigning World Record Holder for the most number of marathons completed in a single year by a woman, will be running the 2012 HMBIM. Holder, who is competing in the September 23 event as her 80th marathon during the year, is on pace to break her own world record of 106 marathons in 2012.

Half Moon Bay, CA - Organizers of the 2012 Half Moon Bay International Marathon (HMBIM) announced today that the event is completely sold out in all events. Athletes from 35 U.S. states, American Samoa and 6 countries will make up a field of 1000 runners across 4 events. This includes the returning champions from 2011, Scott Dunlap and Jennifer Pfeifer. In 2012, registration slots were doubled to increase the number of athletes from 2011, and the event, now in its 2nd year, still sold out quickly.

The Half Moon Bay International Marathon is still two months away, but organizers already have good news for the business community. "The event is sold out again," stated Eric Vaughan, Executive Director of the marathon. "So far we are bringing over 600 hotel nights to the Coastside/Bay Area. The Half Moon Bay International Marathon was certified in April as a green sporting event by the Portland, Ore.-based Council for Responsible Sport for implementing sustainable and environmental practices at its inaugural race last September.
"You and your team put together a well-organized and truly sustainable event," council Executive Director Keith Peters wrote to marathon Executive Director Eric Vaughan in a letter dated April 10.
