MoreHalf Moon Bay International Marathon Earns Green Certification
Joins elite group of races which has met standards set by Council for Responsible Sport
The Half Moon Bay International Marathon was certified in April as a green sporting event by the Portland, Ore.-based Council for Responsible Sport for implementing sustainable and environmental practices at its inaugural race last September.
"You and your team put together a well-organized and truly sustainable event," council Executive Director Keith Peters wrote to marathon Executive Director Eric Vaughan in a letter dated April 10.

The Half Moon Bay International Marathon is still two months away, but organizers already have good news for the business community. "The event is sold out again," stated Eric Vaughan, Executive Director of the marathon. "So far we are bringing over 600 hotel nights to the Coastside/Bay Area. If you do the math, we're easily bringing over $1 million in direct economic benefit to our community!"

Fog blanketed the 2nd annual Half Moon Bay International Marathon the entire day Sunday but that didn't stop hundreds of runners from enjoying "26.2 Miles of Running Heaven" from Pillar Point Harbor along the coastal trail.
Boyfriend and girlfriend pair, Ryan Neely and Kimberly O'Donnell, started and finished the Half Moon Bay International Marathon side-by-side at a time of 2:53.58.
