Did You Say, "HMBIM Course Tour?"
Jul 31, 2013
Happy almost August everyone. Although I (Franz) may be a little late to rev-up the HMBIM Course Tour engine I know eveyone has been training to perfection in preparation for our 2013 HMBIM event. While you're out there working hard and logging the miles, so are we! One of my favorite traditions for past HMBIM event has been the course tours. I mean what can beat showcasing our wonderful course, making new running friends, and then seeing them victoriously cross the finish line on race day? Those friendly race day faces are AWESOME. And, I get to know your story. Your personal drive. That folds into really bringing us a meaningful event, from start to finish.
I invite everyone, HMBIM registered runner or not, to come out for a self supported course tour. The Coastside Running Club will give you snippets of the course at 2 week increments and you provide the smiles (we'll probably smile too)!
When: (First Tour) Saturday August 3rd at 9:00 AM
Where: 371 Princeton Ave. Half Moon Bay, CA. (outside EQ Fitness)
Your Hosts:
Franz Dill (HMBIM Assistant RD & Director of Training)
Members of the Coastside Running Club
The Goal:
The HMBIM Course Tours' goal is to bring runners out to the HMBIM course to share some pre-race excitement, develop running friendships, and get a feel for the course. This has been a highlight of the HMBIM in year's past. Leave your tempo training and race pace runs for another day and settle into Conversational Pace (CP) and enjoy some Coastside miles with new friends.
Distances / Course:
We'll be running the Northern section of the course, covered by both the Marathon and 1/2 Marathon with distances of 9, 4.5 miles, and 2 mile options. The course will NOT be marked. However, local members of the Coastside Running Club will be identified pre-run and act as guides throughout your run. We'll also have a limited number of maps for those that want to cruise at their own pace. If you're looking for more miles, I still encourage you to come out and simply and some miles after the Tour.
Here is a course map.
Fluids and Food:
This is a self supported run so bring your favorite food and drink (during and post run). There's water access at mile 4 and 6 (if you're running the 9 miles distance). There's also drink and recovery products available for purchase at EQ Fitness.
Post Run:
A favorite impromptu place to eat afterwards is the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company just around the corner. http://goo.gl/maps/KWYec
See You Saturday!
