Half Moon Bay International Marathon Takes Pause

5.11.2017

Half Moon Bay, CA -- The Half Moon Bay International Marathon (HMBIM) today announced that the 2017 event will not be held, as organizers have been carefully monitoring the coastal trails in consideration of the HMBIM route.  The California coastline has experienced heavy rains this winter potentially compromising multiple thoroughfares along the HMBIM course with severe erosion.  In addition to the lasting effects on the local community, such damage also carries permitting risk for events such as the HMBIM.

Under this consideration, the Directors of the HMBIM cannot, in good faith, open registration for the 2017 event and as a deeper precaution have made the tough decision to postpone the 2017 running of the HMBIM.  “We take this event, the community, and our runners with the utmost seriousness making this decision, a difficult but correct one, “ stated HMBIM Race Directors.  “We encourage you all to take this opportunity to explore new adventures, support your local run clubs, and keep getting out there and training!”
