FITNESS EXPO AND PACKET PICKUP

The Half Moon Bay International Marathon will be sponsoring a special Expo for all race participants FREE-OF-CHARGE, beginning on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., continuing through Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.

The Fitness Expo is fully open to the public as well!


The location of the Expo will be held in the atrium of the Shoppes at Harbor Village in Pillar Point Harbor. We will feature several different exhibitors from the fitness and general community,  with product samples and information. Official HMBIM Logo Merchandise will also be available.

At the Expo, you will pick up your customized race bibs and D-Tag timing strip, reusable Green goody bags and event shirts. You MUST have photo id to pick-up your bib.  

ALL BIBS SHOULD BE PICKED UP AT THE EXPO; THERE WILL BE VERY LIMITED RACE-DAY PICKUP CAPABILITIES AND WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR BIB PRIOR TO THE START OF YOUR RACE. 

PARKING 

Click here for a map of the parking areas. The primary parking area for both the Fitness Expo and on Race Day will be at the Oceano Hotel and Shoppes at Harbor Village parking lot located just off Capistrano Ave shown on the map as "Lot A".

EXPO SESSIONS 

On Saturday, we have a full set of informational sessions for you to learn from. All of the sessions are FREE and fully open to the public. All sessions will be held in the Empowered Fitness store in the Shoppes at Harbor Village. Below is the schedule of sessions: 

  • Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - "Cross Training for the Endurance Runner"

    There is a common belief that the only way to improve performance in an endurance sport is to train more in that sport. But there is a compelling argument that cross training can not only give you an edge over your competition, but also reduce injuries common to endurance sports. Join us as we explore why cross training might be just what you need to take YOUR performance to the next level. 
     
  • Saturday, 11:00 a.m. - "Fueling on the Run" 
    Scott Jurek, World-renowned Ultramarathon Champion and Vegan Athlete
    Whether you are a new runner or veteran marathoner, Scott will provide practical and specific advice on how to fuel your body during training and racing. Learn the tricks of the trade from someone who has learned how important proper fueling is from the demands of running distances from 50 to 165 miles! 
     
  • Saturday, 12:30 p.m. - "The Half Moon Bay International Marathon Course Preview"

    The staff of the HMBIM want to ensure you have the best possible day out on our beautiful course. Come listen to Executive Race Director Eric Vaughan as he describes the course, tips on aid stations and what to expect, along with a video course preview!
     
  • Saturday, 2:00 p.m. - "Strength Training for the Endurance Runner"
    Joseph Chlubna, Owner, Coastal Lifestyles Fitness Center
    For today’s athletes of all levels and disciplines, strength training as a part of the regimen has become the rule and not the exception. Find out how adding a strength routine to your endurance training plan will not only increase your performance, but also prevent injury and allow you to recover faster. 

  • Saturday, 3:30 p.m. - "Mind Over Matter:How to Keep Going When the Going Gets Tough"
    Scott Jurek, World-renowned Ultramarathon Champion and Vegan Athlete
    Staying mentally tough can be a challenge no matter what distance you are running. In this short lecture and Q&A session, learn from Scott how he "runs tough" during his demanding ultramarathons and use it to stay mentally strong during your race.
